Where do I begin with “The Final Problem”? How about I start with a confession. I didn’t stay up for it. Despite the fact that it premiered at 7:00 instead of 9:00 and all my desires to do so, my husband’s late night at work meant that I had to wait until Monday to watch the episode. I mean sure, I could have watched it without him and pretended to be surprised when we watched it together, but only if I’d had the sociopathic skill-set of a Holmes sibling. Alas, I’m far too empathetic… and I knew I wouldn’t be able to keep spoilers to myself. Speaking of spoilers. Don’t read on if you haven’t seen the episode. This blog happened to be written because of a conversation with a friend about this week’s episode of Sherlock. I came to the realization that there are two distinct kinds of people who watch Sherlock.
The Shippers, and the Solvers. Odds are you’re one of them, and odds are you’ve seen Season four’s The Lying Detective, otherwise consider this your SPOILER warning. Continue reading “Shippers and Solvers, the two kinds of Sherlock viewers” »

Between conventions in the wild wild west, planning for awesomeness at Phoenix Comicon with Con Man and just everyday life, Downton has fallen a bit off the radar. So before continuing on with finishing the current (and now past) series, here’s a quick recap, if for no reasons other than my own sanity. Continue reading “Getting Back to Downton, but not drama in Season 5 ep 7” »
While I’m not sure what it is about this season that has sent me on a “NO” kick, I’m certain that it’s the theme of the season (or maybe the theme is still focused on the changing times… but I’m sticking with NO). Anyway, it seemed like in this episode it was impossible for anyone to make or keep friends. Except of course Rose, but I doubt she’ll be able to keep her new friend, considering his heritage. This past week’s episode was a bit of a roller coaster, which despite all efforts really left all major characters in a place where no one could win.
