If it feels like your sweet summer season of conventions is over for a long 9 ish months (unless you hit up Wondercon in Spring), then fear not because Phoenix has you covered. In addition to feeling like Summer year round Phoenix (Comicon that is) just got incredibly cool. This year, we’re getting ANOTHER CONVENTION! The Phoenix Comicon Fan Fest, BEHOLD:
The excitement and buzz began earlier this week when, through social media, Phoenix Comicon began sharing the following photos, one a day:
As intended the countdown generated tons of buzz, until this morning it was revealed that Phoenix Comicon is going to be hosting the Phoenix Comicon Fan Fest, this December! This is fabulous for fans, because according to Phoenix Comicon a regular feedback item for over a decade has been a general request for a second opportunity for a pop culture event, especially during a cooler season.
So, what sets the Fan Fest apart, and what can we expect based on how Phoenix Comicon runs their current annual convention?
Here’s what we know:
What it is:
“Phoenix Comicon Fan Fest is a second convention in addition to Phoenix Comicon. Fan Fest is a pop culture convention featuring actors, top comic book writers and artists, programming, and features exhibitors, vendors and costuming for those fans who can’t get enough of Phoenix Comicon!”
Time and Location: As mentioned the convention will be held in December, from the 12th-14th, and rather than being at the Phoenix Convention Center, it will be at the University of Phoenix, Glendale Stadium. The reason for the new location is unfortunately because everyone loves Phoenix in the winter, costs aren’t as low at the Phoenix Convention Center, or at the surrounding hotels.
Here’s what we assume:
“For the next two weeks until October 11th, Full Event Memberships for Phoenix Comicon Fan Fest are $30 and available for purchase at www.phoenixcomicon.com.”
While the cost of attending per day hasn’t been confirmed yet, at the moment it seems like things will be pretty consistent in terms of affordability.
Though there haven’t been any statements to confirm this, based on their tremendous support of #CosplayIsNotConsent earlier this year, it’s safe to assume that like Phoenix Comicon the Fan Fest will be both a fun, and secure environment for Cosplayers!
And here’s what’s up in the air:
Guests and Programming. We know that they will have it,
“but on a smaller scale than Phoenix Comicon.”
Currently we don’t have a schedule, photo ops, or a line up, however it has been made known that there will be guests, and lots of updates about them! And while I doubt that Bruce Campbell will make a second appearance in one year, I’ll just gaze at my photo opp from Phoenix Comicon 2014, while I ponder who may be willing to visit the Valley of the Sun, during its nicest time of year.
So, are you as excited as we are that the folks behind Phoenix Comicon are giving us another convention? What are you looking forward to? Let us know in the comments, and be sure to subscribe, so you don’t miss any updates!
