Now it’s been a while since I’ve done an episode review, so forgive me if I’ve forgotten a few important points. With my life taken over by teaching, there’s been less time to write. However, this feels like a perfect opportunity to mention the educational debate of skills versus content. Is it more important for students to learn HOW to do something, or learn ABOUT something. As humans we typically do both. Take Jane Doe for example, she can fire a pistol with amazing accuracy and kick some major ass, which will come in handy throughout the 24-esque escapades that I’m sure we’ll see a lot of, but she has no content. She doesn’t know her name or where she came from, or why she’s covered in tattoos. Continue reading “Why Blindspot Looks So Good” »
I fully recognize that I’m about 9 months behind the times, but I hadn’t started watching True Detective yet. Something that some fellow campers in the #HallH line at #SDCC this year (who were from the UK, and total strangers) were shocked at. And they made certain to inform me that my TV viewing, nay my LIFE was incomplete having not viewed this television treasure. With the Emmys happening this weekend, I realized my window of opportunity to see the show before the awards ceremony was closing faster than a body bag, and that I needed to start. Hi There #Psych-O’s!
So last week was the premiere of Season 8 for Psych, one of my favorite shows that isn’t a drama (Sleepy Hollow is in the in-between category)! Anyway, all of the usual antics ensued, and as Psych is a Case-Of-The-Week, more so than a serial there aren’t always a lot of details to track (like Sleepy Hollow, Helix etc.). That being said there are definitely episodes that standout for being part of a running storyline, and the premiere really hit it off both in terms of reminding fans of all the awesomeness before, and awesomeness that can be expected for this season. So read no further unless you’ve watched the episode. Continue reading “Choose to Believe Psych Season 8 Premiere” »
So this past episode of Justified was, even with interviews of Walton Goggins saying we’d see a return of the angry violent Boyd from the pilot, pretty darn intense. While some seasons of Justified can take their time to build, it’s like the writers decided, not to start with a snowball rolling down a hill, but to opt for an avalanche that’ll hit Harlan County before anyone really knows what’s what.
